This 1915 Victorian in Denver was originally 1,500 square feet with a second level considered a “half story” due to low, sloped ceilings. Ascent Contracting “popped the top” to create a full-height second story and expanded the home’s footprint with additions to the back and side.
The renovation created a spacious main level, a luxurious primary suite, larger kid and guest bedrooms, a mudroom, wine cellar, and a generous back patio—perfect for modern family living.
Preserving the home’s historic charm was a top priority for this family of four. Finishes were carefully selected to reflect the original 1915 design, including small-scale bathroom floor tile with decorative borders, exposed shower heads, trim and molding matched to the original, a vanity with furniture legs, wood wainscoting, and Victorian-inspired lighting, mirrors, and door hardware. The result is a historic home renovation that seamlessly blends authentic architectural details with modern comfort and functionality.
